Members’ Days with AGM

Our Members’ Days are a chance for all members to get together for a lively programme of talks and updates and our AGM. They usually take place in November and are open to everyone who is a member of the Living Stones of the Holy Land Trust.

Theology Group

This is an ecumenical group which is hosted by Living Stones, which meets periodically.

Executive Meetings

The management group meets on the second Wednesday of alternate months (January, March, May, July, September, November) and members of Living Stones are warmly invited to attend. At present meetings usually take place in London. Please contact us  if you would like to come along.

COMMUNITIES in CRISIS in IRAQ and SYRIA

This one-day international conference  ‘Communities in Crisis: the aftermath of 2003 in Syria and Iraq for the Christian, Mandaean and Yezidi communities aims to  explore  the challenges regarding the maintenance and celebration of ritual amongst the Christian, Mandaean and Yezidi communities in Syria and Iraq. In particular, it asks how communities meet the challenges of maintaining ritual and how have the diaspora communities responded to the changing needs.

Papers will be given by a variety of experts and scholars including Dr. Aho Shemunkasho (Salzburg), Mr. Kristian Girling (Heythrop), Dr. Eszter Spät (Bochum), Prof. Jorunn Buckley (Bowdoin College, Maine) and Dr. Suha Rassam (ICIN). COMMUNITIES in CRISIS in IRAQ and SYRIA

Friday April 22nd and Saturday April 23rd 2016 at the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS.

Friday 22nd April: 18.00-21.00

The launch of a specially commissioned book of contributions events to remember the kidnapping of Mor Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim –together with his fellow Metropolitan Paul Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church. The launch in the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre will consist of key-note speakers, each drawing on the great heritage of the Syrian Orthodox Church and the current real threats to its existence in its traditional Syrian homeland. Invited speakers include Sebastian Brock, as well as senior representatives of both the Syrian Orthodox and Anglican churches and the President of Pro. Oriente. This event is open to the general public and is gratis. A reception will follow the book launch. Please find attached a flyer for this book launch which promises to be a memorable evening.
